TideChaser Followers – Day 4 November 23, 2014
Well, yesterday’s beer run didn’t turn out like we planned. After docking at the marina and getting TideChaser tied off. Chris and I took off walking looking for a grocery store in this little town of Palafox, Florida. After walking 10 blocks or more following locals instructions we came up empty handed. We began to think they were not locals. We headed back to the boat and dinner tonight was Cheese burgers, chips and a slice of pickle. Yummy
Tonight around 12:30am I was sleeping and the winds came roaring through this area. All I heard were the sounds of lines slapping over and over against the side of a boat. It was soo loud I got up and thought I needed to go out and tighten our lines because Gary had showed us how to do that in New Orleans. I stepped out into the outdoor salon walked around the starboard side checking out our lines. They were all taunt. It was our neighboring yacht. Yikes! Clang, clang, clang. Every time a gush of wind came through. The winds were so strong and whipping around. I’m so glad we were in this safe harbor. We had made a good decision to stop for the 2 days.
When I woke up, Chris our early bird on the trip, already up, showered, and had breakfast, reading a magazine sitting outside. That was all before 8:00am! Then the down pour of rain began. We were hooked up to shore power so that means we can make coffee! YES. Since we knew we would be here all day it was a laid back day.
Once the rain passed we fixed the grill. Gary worked on the 9 horse power motor that goes on our dingy and Chris was trying to get our ceiling board back into place. Work, work, work. I hosed down the decks and did a little clean up.
Then I had some e-mail requests for pictures of the interior of our fabulous TideChaser. So I set out to clean the exterior and interior of her for my picture taking. Once again the rains came off and on throughout this day with some crazy winds.
At lunch Gary got out his computer and said we needed to watch this really cool cartoon-type movie called “Fantastic Mr. Fox”. It was pretty interesting/entertaining except Walt fell asleep and then went into his cabin to take a nap. After that the sun came out and people started walking around the Marina. Chris went to take the trash out and went to the marina office where she found beer. We met a really nice couple, Beth and Randy from Ontario , Canada. They have bought a mono-hull here in Pensacola and plan on sailing it to the Bahamas very soon.
Randy is so nice he is going to take Walt into town tomorrow so he can get a part we need before we leave tomorrow at 9:00am. Tomorrow we are setting sail again hugging the coastline of Fl. , about 10 miles off , heading toward Tampa.
Pictures of the interior of TideChaser are also being sent separately for our followers.
More to come when we get into Wi-Fi region again. Down the coast line toward Tampa, FL. Write us with request. We love hearing from you all. Love Juls
